Oversized Bore Diameters

Most MaxSil™ Pistons are offered with oversized bore dimensions between .025mm and 1.2mm depending on the application. MaxSil™ Pistons for aluminum BMW V8's are offered in both oversize and standard bore sizes - for use with our Duraliner centrifugally-cast iron cylinder sleeves. .002" oversize pins
All MaxSil™ Pistons include .002" oversize pins and pin bores. This allows installers to micro hone the rod bushing to size for a precision fit of piston pin to rod bushing.

.0015"(+/-.0003") piston to cylinder wall clearance
MaxSil™ Pistons for BMWs are manufactured using a special aluminum alloy blend that includes the optimum amount of silicone. This aluminum alloy offers more strength, less weight, less heat expansion, and less friction than other alloys - while avoiding the brittleness of hypereutectic. This allows installers to hold a .0015 (+/-.0003") clearance between piston and cylinder wall without risk of seizure.

All MaxSil™ Pistons are precision cast and CNC machined. See the chart below for tolerances of the 33 critical dimensions held during the machining process. All tolerance dimensions are in mm.
